Home...Home On the Range...

Its a long story but I am headed home to Dallas on Tuesday. I have to change my visa but also going to take some vacation time. I know I am well loved back home. I know that I will get to see some of my favorite people on the planet. I know I will get to see dear faces. These are the things I am excited about. Home is where the heart is. But the thing is, my heart is here too... Its another lesson in learning how to trust in His grace. See ya'll soon!

Nurse Kettie America

We had the chance this week to go do a health camp in a few of the surrounding villages. This was the waiting 'room'.
These days- this is the expression that is usually on my face. What the HECK is this guy trying to say??
Some of the people who helped host us
So part of this sign reads "Nurse Kettie America" It cracked me up. But also, it was a sweet gesture for them to go through so much trouble for us.

A Good Kind of Tired

The last few days have been a whirlwind of activity. We had the chance to help out with a training this week. For the first time, Heather and I led an "official" storying session ...all in HINDI. We have met some beautiful woman with a story to tell. In addition, there is a group of volunteers here and more on their way. I am trying to get ready for a 'semi' medical camp that we will be doing next week. Its been so hot that I think even my eyelids sweat.I got home around 11pm and put my aching feet up. I checked my email and ALAS! I got my language test results. I have made Intermediate High on my language level- which is the level I am supposed to be at! I am worn out. But its a good kind of tired. The kind of tired that reminds I am glad I am here. Days like today remind me that its all worth it.

Laurie and Mom

I just wanted to ask for your prayers for my sweet friend Laurie. Her mom just passed away this week. I was actually in the hospital (the first time) when I found out her mom was sick so it happened pretty quickly. My heart hurts for Laurie . She has lost her mom and her best friend. Thankfully, her mom is now with the Lord and her suffering is over. But please just lift up Laurie and her family in a special way. Her mom was a fabulous lady and will be missed.

Sending Out an SOS

Recently, a coworker asked me a simple question. He asked "are you spending enough time with our Father"? And my immediate thought was "oh yea of course". The more I thought about it though- the more I realized that lately, I have only been sending out SOS's... Like "Lord, I am stuck" or "I don't know what to do" or just the plain "HELLPP! Help the girl, help me!"

I get little nuggets of His truth all the time. I get it through a devotional, a song, an insight, a verse. And by all means, I have not turned my back on Him. But you know how it goes... we just simply get caught up in the things we have to do. I worry because I haven't responded to emails, got my finances in order, learned more Hindi, met with a friend. So instead of drawing from the Living Water, I drink a Coke. And that just leaves me thirsty. "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink".

Worms, Scabies and More

This week I had a good opportunity to travel with a friend to see how she does health care teaching in the state I work in. The topics range from Scabies and worms to nutrition and hygiene. People come from their respective villages and learn the lessons. They then take it back and tell their friends and family. Each health lesson is followed by a story from His Word. Some pretty cool things are happening through this training.
There is a time of singing, worship, accountability, review and then 3 new lessons are taught during each training session.

I am not sure what I am talking about here but its proof that I talk with my hands too much.

Some of the sweet ladies who joined us for the seminar. The lady in red and yellow was Ms. Smarty Pants. She knew all the answers and didn't mind sharing. ;-)
